Design story

Aloff is a modern-retro armchair that balances the warmth of natural wood with the tactile comfort of luxurious upholstery. It’s designed to be both a quiet centerpiece in a living room and a dependable companion in a reading corner — a refuge that invites you to sit, stay, and slow down.

Inspiration:
The form draws from mid-century silhouettes and Japanese minimalism: low, grounded proportions, rounded corners, and visible joinery. The soft, barrel-like upholstery references classic club chairs, while the exposed timber frame celebrates the materiality and craftsmanship of traditional furniture-making.

Materials & Finish:
Frame: Solid hardwood (walnut or teak recommended) with a hand-rubbed oil finish to emphasize grain and warm tones.
Seat & Back: High-density foam core wrapped in a feather-soft down alternative for immediate comfort and long-term support.
Upholstery: Full-grain leather for a refined, lived-in patina — or boucle/wool blend for a softer, contemporary look.
Joinery: Exposed mortise-and-tenon where armrests meet legs to highlight craftsmanship.
